Vol. 3 Issue 5 is the fifth issue of the third The Darkness comic series volume. This issue is the fifth part of Empire story arc, titled The Blue Hour.
Synopsis[]
After having lost control of his Darkness powers, Jackie is wracked with guilt, but a near-death experience may prove his true mettle once and for all. Meanwhile, the pregnant Elle may be suffering from complications due to the fact she is carrying a Darkbaby!
Writer Phil Hester (Green Arrow) and rising star Michael Broussard (Unholy Union) continue their re-defining run on The Darkness with this shocking issue!

Plot Summary[]
Having showed to be pregnant to Jackie, Elle expresses that she wants to be with him. She then notices the rebels and becomes hostile. Elle proceeds to attack and kill all of them except Marisol. She then incapacitates Marisol and notices that she looks like Elle. Before Elle can do anything to Marisol, Major White comes and opens fire on her. As Elle recovers, White, Marisol and Jackie proceed to escape. Elle quickly recovers and tries to stop them, but White's men shine light on her, letting them to escape.
White reveals to have figured out that Jackie and his Darklings are weak to direct light. He plans to bring Jackie back to states and let scientists in D.C. to experiment on him. Suddenly, Marisol realizes that she has lost the phone, which activates Jackie's suicidal vest.
Back in the cathedral, Kirchner calms Elle down and urges her to forget Jackie. Kirchner plans to become the new father to Elle's child. She then feels the baby pushing and Kirchner takes her to the labs. On their way, Kirchner finds a phone dropped by Marisol.
Back in the jungle, Marisol decides to take off the suicide vest from Jackie. Estacado tells Marisol that he's not worthy and she should let him die, but she continues to work. Jackie tells to Marisol about his dark and troubled past. He begins to cry as Marisol finishes taking off the vest.
Back in the cathedral, Kirchner watches the footage of Elle's fight with the rebels. He realizes that the phone activates the suicide vest on Jackie and decides to activate the vest.
Back in the jungle, the ensuing explosion rips Jackie's abdomen in half, while Marisol is obliterated on the spot. The explosion kills White too. Jackie is filled with rage, wanting to kill both Kirchner and The Darkness for this. In his last dying breaths he reaches out to Darkness and loses consciousness as Darkness is envelops him.
Meanwhile, Elle begins to birth the child. She screams in agony and her stomach bursts. Out of it comes out a fully grown Darkness creature. To be continued...
