Vol. 1 Issue 27 is the twenty-seventh issue of the first The Darkness comic series volume published from 1996.
Synopsis[]
As the FBI continues its assault on Jackie Estacado, he must enlist the help of an unlikely ally to save himself. But will even THIS be enough to keep Jackie from the hands of the U.S. government? We don't know--Uncle Sam is a pretty tough opponent for ANYONE, even someone with the power of The Darkness...

Plot Summary[]
The story opens up with Jackie enjoying sunrise on top of a skyscraper, much to Darklings protest. As the Darklings turn into ash, Sonatine in Wenders body investigates them, thinking that it could help him to take The Darkness from Jackie. He's interrupted by Jackie who goes to meet with Frankie in order to find out why did he kept from Estacado that fact that he had a sister.
At the hospital Frankie scream at his goons for not able to set up their operation in Gotham City because of Batman. Jackie then comes over and they talk about the recent events, including Lauren becoming Angelus and the fight in Golden Fleece casino.
Elsewhere, Sonatine puts his former body with Wenders soul in it into a crate and send it to Russia. He then meets with Butcher Joyce and together they go to bar.
Back at the hospital Jackie confronts Frankie for keeping existence of his sister from him. Frankie tries to dodge and even lie, saying that that Jackie's sister was to pure and innocent for their world. Jackie doesn't believe him and Frankie reveals he this so he would have complete control on him. He then sends Jackie to Gotham.
Back at the docks, Sonatine uses his mind control power on Butcher in order to find out everything about Jackie.
Meanwhile, Jackie meets with Kimberly Fang and again apologises to her. He then dreams of Fang forgiving him and then sharing a kiss. In reality, Jackie gets slapped by Fang who declares that she might eventually forgive him, but not now.
Elsewhere, Cullowski rests in a park fountain. Carla asks him when he be ready to kill Jackie and he answers that soon. To be continued...
